Patient Safety Sitter Services
- Provides support to the nursing staff by observing the patient to prevent patient injury. Works under the direct
- supervision of the Registered Nurse assigned to the patient.
- Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Stays in patient room at all times, remaining very alert, observing the patient.
- Communicates the patient’s needs to the Registered Nurse responsible for the patient’s care via the spectra
- link/Cisco phone, using the call button, or when a rapid response is necessary by pulling the emergency call light.
- Intervenes to protect the patient, and to minimize the risk of injury by reorienting the patient, talking to the patient, or
- calling for assistance.
- Provides hands on care when necessary based on the needs of the patient.
- May perform other duties as assigned or requested.
- Observes and reports to the RN all patients concerns or changes in condition.
- Assists patient to restroom. Walks patient in corridor as needed.
- Reports or Notifies RN if tubes, IV catheter, etc. become disconnected
